Newsletter 04 We welcome you again to Hostelco’s newsletter, which we publish at a key moment for the hotel and catering industry. On one hand, we are at peak season and it is still to be seen how the market and the consumers will behave in the current times. On the other, the recent decision made by the Spanish Government to increase the reduced VAT from 8% to 10% raises the alarm in the industry. Innovation, quality and export, ever more present in the hotel industry, appear to be the keys for the future development of this sector, and we’ll be able to see all this and more in this 2012 edition of Hostelco. Also this year, Hostelco marks the addition of the first Hospitality Industry World Congress. Among the contents in this edition of our newsletter, apart from the latest news of the industry, we bring you an interview with the Shangri-La Group and with the Spanish company Telfer, and we include an article signed by Domènec Biosca, who presents a clear vision of the main actions that the industry must take in the next few years. As always, we hope you enjoy reading the newsletter.
